READ CAREFULLY – REGISTRATION and SEEDING HAS CHANGED from previous years.
Athletes wishing to compete in the team sprint will register in a separate Zone4 registration in which they will pay their race fees. As well, each athlete MUST indicate in the registration who his/her partner will be and which leg of the relay each team mate will ski. Teams will be assigned into heats and seeded according to the information received in the online registration by the close of regular registration.
NOTE: Any late registrations will be subject to a late fee and teams that register late lose their right to seeding. Such teams will be assigned zero points and be placed at the back of the starting chevron in a heat. As well, any teams with substitutions made after the close of regular registration (at which time the heats will be formed) will also lose their right to seeding and be placed at the back of the chevron.
The team captains meeting for the team sprints will NOT be used to assign athletes to teams. Rather it will used to confirm that teams have been properly placed in heats and seeded properly. Seeding will be based upon the combined current “distance” points only except for late or substituted registrants for which zero points will be assigned to the team affected.
Categories this year have been expanded to include a “mixed gender Division Team Sprint” for skiers NOT competing in the Club Team Sprint. Naturally, skiers in the Division Team Sprint must be from the same Divisions per your CCC license registration. Skiers are not permitted to participate in both Club and Division Team Sprints.
As in previous year’s, the Club Team Sprint includes Open Men, Open Women, Challenge Boys, Challenge Girls, CCUNC Men, and CCUNC Women. Skiers on a team in the Club Team Sprint must be formally registered with the same club.
Consult the Ski Nationals Technical Package, Section 4.2.1 for full details including details about eligibility.
Wax cabin and flight information registration is available on-line at the link provided below. Priority will be given to Clubs/Teams that provide information by 25 February 2018.
The 2018 Ski Nationals organizing committee is committed to providing the best possible experience for all teams making the trip to Thunder Bay.
Each Club, Team and Training Centre should provide the information requested on the www.zone4.ca Wax Cabin and Flight Information page.
Registration includes a heated wax room with an appropriate amount of space for each team. At this time we are requesting some important information, to assist us in allocating wax room space, and ensuring that we are prepared for any additional equipment that may be arriving at the race site.
The Event Organizing Committee of the 2018 Ski Nationals is working closely with the Thunder Bay International Airports Authority in an attempt to make travel through the Thunder Bay Airport as smooth as possible before and after the event.
With the sheer number of athletes, support crew and gear potentially arriving and departing at similar times, and the fact that the airlines are now generally flying smaller planes to Thunder Bay, the Airport Authority would like to inform and work with the airlines to reduce the potential for things like delayed baggage.
Online Registration is the only method of registration available. All registration fees are payable at the time of online registration. Refunds will not be issued (with the exception of the Team Sprint, as detailed below).
Club names and spellings will be used as reported in the Club database on the CCC website. Athletes are responsible to ensure that spelling and club names are written as per that list. FIS and CCC licenses must be entered at the time of registration..
Coaches must register online for identification, to provide an email address for the Sprint Team pairings request, and to purchase banquet tickets. Coaches will be asked to submit a list of Team Support Personnel (for information only).
Athletes and coaches are expected to carefully check their entries as posted on the Confirmation List on the Zone4 website, immediately upon completing registration, and send all corrections to the Race Secretary.
